HomePlugs

by venomxt12

Anybody know if they work well with IPTV ? Im using a zgemma and may get some homeplugs when i move house

Can they go into an extension cable or does it have to be plugged in at the wall socket ?

I plug the homeplug in the wall and then the extension cable into that (it's a passthrough). Should be ok plugged in the extension though

Your Homeplugs Adapters will only work properly if you plug them directly into a wall socket: not into extension leads. Only use extension leads as a last resort, if there's no other option. Most models of Powerline Adapters have a plug socket, which means you won't lose a mains socket after it's been plugged in.

It's more a case of whether they will work well with the electrical circuits in your house. You won't know until you try.

They can be a bottle neck in terms of bandwidth depending on your house wiring and how good the kit is u buy.

To maximise any iptv setup you really need to give it the best connection you can. Admittedly in some houses home plugs are the only way to network.

Plugging into the wall makes them work better. The copper wiring is thicker so signal strength is better. In an extension socket, the copper wire is thinner, and so bottlenecked.. that's been my experience.

In your experiences are they stable for IPTV upto 1080p ?
