I’ve been using Perfect Player, but it’s prone to freezing and crashing. Can anyone recommend a more stable alternative? The caveat is that i run everything through a firestick, which maybe is the reason why im having these problems?

I use perfect player on a first gen fire stick and have never seen a crash.
A few months back amazon kicked out all the IPTV apps from their app store, so I had to sideload the pro version (that I paid for ) from mobilism
I'm not sure which version you're using on the fire stick, but it may be out of date and may be fixed with an update.
If you paid for the full version the dev is cool with you sideloading it on fire tv ( see comments )
I have the same issue with PP it’s annoying as everyone seems to have no issues with it, had it happen over 2 different devices.
Smart IPTV is great though, free trial but then pay one time fee afterwards, well worth it IMO.

I use ProgTV, had PP before. It wasn’t crashing on me or anything but I prefer the customization and look of Prog. Buffering is about equal but for some reason quality looks better on Prog. Might be codec used?
Download FireDL to the firestick then type in 170542 in the FireDL URL. It will download IPTV SMARTERS PRO to the firestick that's what I use.
I use NitroTvPro on the firestick first gen, very stable and no issues. I love it..

No chance, PP is the most stable player there is. Been using it for over 2 years and never seen a crash.
