Just picked up a shield box and I'm now wanting to view my iptv subs through the shield. Is it just a case of taking note of my mac number and putting it into my iptv subs website? Or is there more to it?
Going from a mag to a shield box is completely different from what I'm use to using with the basic mag box.
I'd suggest trying out TVirl app (you can find it in play store), and input your m3u and epg xmltv there. Once setup you can open 'live channels' and watch tv from there. I prefer it for watching, it just feels 'native'. Downside is there's no catchup. Cool thing is you can use Google Assistant on the shield to switch channels (eg. 'switch channel to NBC').
Tip: If your provider offer ways to trim the m3u that'd be best, otherwise it'll take a long time to setup / update the channel and EPG.
You’ll need to get an application that can view the iptv. If you have a Mac subscription, you’ll need to download and setup stb emulator. If you use m3u playlist, there are various applications you could use.
First, you need to get StbEmu - v 1.1.7 will work great on the Shield.
You will need the Portal URL from your reseller.
You can edit the MAC address in StbEmu on your Shield to use the same MAC as you were using on your MAG box. However, you will not be able to use both boxes at the same time.
In the setup of StbEmu, you can set the MAG type to "MAG 256"
Some providers have apps that you install and you then login via the app. If you're not sure what yours has, I would contact the provider. .
As long as your provider gives you an m3u URL with username and password, I’d suggest Perfect Player. Works super slick and fast on Shield. Allows you to set up multiple providers on one platform/program. Google Play Store. Other choices include IPTV Smarters Pro (records live stream too) and PROG (records EPG and live). You should move away from MAC based sub.
Does this give a mag interface ? Is it possible to auto boot to mag app on shield
does anyone know how to get the color buttons working? or is there an alternate remote? I have purchased bunch of remotes with no avail.
