Grouping M3U Playlist

by MustafaEmary

Hello there, I just purchased an IPTV M3U subscription and it got over 7000 channels, but the problem is that they are not grouped at all ( All the channels are in 1 group) which makes it very hard finding a channel!

Is there anyway I can group them ? What apps do I need and how to do it ?

I already reached out to the provider and they told me that I have to do it myself !!

Thanks

Check out Xstream Editor. https://xtream-editor.com

What are you using to view the channels? Depending on the app it can default to an "All Channels" mode, you have to switch to the group you want to view. Download your M3U through the browser, just open your m3u link in browser and it should ask you to save it, then you can open it in a text editor and see if it has any group settings. It should look something like this:

#EXTINF:-1 tvg-name="NBC" tvg-id="" tvg-logo="" group-title="News",NBC

http://api.iptv.com/watch/live/nbc.m3u

This channel would be set as "News" group with that "group-title="News", it could be configured a little differently, different order maybe, but if it doesn't have "group-title=*SOMETHING*" anywhere in it then I suggest you drop that provider and find someone else because that is going to be one HUGE pain in the ass to sort through. If you've only a day in, don't want to get zero use out of it, I suggest you copy and paste the channels you want into a new playlist for the time you've paid and move somewhere else once the subscription is out. You can download the m3u to your device, many players can load m3u directly instead of a link.

Doesn't really sound like a great provider tbh. 7000 channels is way to many for them to manage. Did you take a trial before buying? Hopefully you only paid for a month.

Xstream Editor will allow you to editor but it's a subscription although not a huge amount per annum. But you have to do all the work sorting yourself which the provider ought to do (even if you did want to reorder). I have 3 providers and they are all sorted into groups for m3u

STB Emu is an android app so you could use that if you have a box or Fire Stick (I think it can be sideloaded but not certain)

Did you ask him For m3u with options?
That would have them in groups.

You can even add it your self by making sure your playlist contains this at the end

type=m3u_plus&output=ts

grkblood13

m3u-builder and a healthy dose of regex

Balsak85

Tvheadend use that and its free

You can ask if they support the suls bouquet maker, this will tie in with epg etc.

There should be no need to have to edit groups yourself unless you wanted a different order; the supplier seems lazy.....

May I get a link to your provider? I want to buy IPTV as well, and have the option of editing my m3u Thanks

If i'm honest, i'd tell you to find another provider with better support, i mean what are you going to do with 7000 channels anyway...?
