Homeplugs/Powerline Performance

by venomxt12

Hi guys, anybody use a homeplug/powerline for IPTV, are they stable enough for 1080p streams ?

It's all about the wiring in your house, nobody can answer this for you.

Best bet is to buy them from a store you can return them for a full refund if they don't work in your house.

We have tri-level home with concrete walls on the lower floor and Wi-Fi just wouldn't make it down there.

Using this:

Works well for streaming and PS4 low latency too

Sigh, it comes down to your provider and the wiring in your house, but typically IPTV doesn't use more than 5mbit. Providers compress the ever loving shit out of their streams, so they should be perfectly fine. You need to have wiring that is copper, has 3 wire, as GFL adapters will NOT let the adpaters work (those little pods you see throughout the house on your wiring) and lastly, the run can't be more than 100 or so meters. The longer the run of wiring, the lower the signal and thus the less speed you will end up getting at the end of the run.

As for 1080p streams, name a provider that has 1080p streams. Every provider that was running them, has switched to 720 because of losing their 1080p feeds, or is purely running upscaled shit. Even regular Satelite TV is only 720p with very few channels in 1080, due to bandwidth. H264 compression was supposed to fix that when it was introduced, but what do you know, when providers were posed with more channels or more resolution, they picked more channels of shit.

in theory if everything is as it should be in your home then performance shouldn't be a problem for bandwidth hungry streams assuming you have the right speeds

Thanks for the info guys

I use one for my detached garage. No problems what so ever.
