Using a zgemma in the UK with a VPN. Sync speed is around 74mb on the router.
On the zgemma most servers give about 15mbegabit, however some seem to give me 65megabit which is perfect
Does anybody else find the same? Some servers are really slow one day, then fast the next

The zgemma cpu can't handle the VPN encryption and decryption well enough to deliver a fast speed.
If you want to use your zgemma through a VPN look at a VPN router to deliver a fast speed as that has a decent speed to the device.
Using a VPN uses cpu power for encryption/decryption, the less powerful the cup the more effect it has on your streaming speed.
It's why 1at gen firesticks generally don't work with VPN's.
