Pirate IPTV Services Will Be Blocked Says Set-Top Box Manufacturer

Without pirate services Infomir wouldn't be relevant would they? They're shooting themselves in the foot idiots...

Arbelisk

good way to get your product boycotted.

This isn't anything new, port blocking has been happening for a good 10 years in Europe. This is why people flash their boxes, which gives them root access to bios which can unlocks hidden ports, increase cpu speed etc.

Even the box makers know it's a pointless exercise as mag boxes are open source

I just bought a mag 322. And already had 2 portals blocked by developer

Sylocule

I’ve got a fairly new mag 322 and I have to say I’m not particularly impressed. The WiFi on mine is N rated and gets 15Mb/s despite being really close (2 metres) from the router. My 1st gen Firestick (5m away) gets 24Mb/s.

Channel zapping is pretty laggy too. Overall not particularly impressed so if my provider gets blocked I’d happily bin it.

Quick edit: I’ve seen images of portals being blocked.

From what I have seen and understood - In Canada once all cable providers are fully on IPTV that they will be encrypting the streams.

Kinda like how DirectTV did when they released their version 4 cards - that put lots of people out of pocket for their "gray" market sat systems.

(The place that use to load my card - had about 4K people that it scammed by taking their money and telling them there was a hack coming.)

I assume automatic updates to the boxes would block iptv from the list of banned URL

Good luck to the company staying in business once they implement this.

MAG to be avoided now, but sure this is just vaporware from them, to sound like they will do this in front of copyright broadcasters.

Infomir midse we'll apply for bankruptcy protection than. And realistically we have many alternatives. I was never overly impressed with their boxes anyway

Blue-Thunder

So what about countries where these types of services are legal, or rather, not illegal? This is a dick move, and as others have said, they should not have this type of control over our devices. I was going to upgrade in the new year anyways, but this is just pushing that upgrade ahead of schedule.

I really wish the Z8 was out :/.

totodee

Most underground IPTV services provide other ways to access their content. And then there is STB Emulator.

Of course, if I had one of their boxes and my IPTV got blocked I would be upset but there are other alternatives.

skinnykid108

lol..ok...Then No one will buy them.

midnitefox

Literally impossible.

Since most aren’t ssl, I wonder if you can just setup a cname on a domain. Or maybe if you know how to do that you aren’t using a mag?

jedi_ringo

Some cool dude will create a groovy firmware and all will be splendid again

tinpanalleypics

So what can be done now with a a MAG254? Is there anything you can do with it other than pick up IPTV channels?
