Hi all cut a long story a pred paid card I was taking payments on and transfered a few quid to it.
I attempted to make a bank transfer to get tokena tjwn got an email saying it had been declined... logged ro my account, Frozen... £500.
Thsy want to know where i got the money from So ive blagged it hopefully good enough.
They have had my money for 6 days now!
Whats the chances of getting my money back? And if a don't get my money back what on earth do they do with my money?
Getting money back on a pre-paid credit card can be difficult. What "brand" of card do you have?
You will need to provide their customer service people with solid proof that it is YOUR money -- I used to work for a company in North America that was the leader in pre-paid cards and technology and managed the customer operations group. We had people who would "refund" the cards with HUGE amounts of money (like $1k, $2k or $3k) and we could not re-activate the cards as this type of "refund" is really suspicious.
In Canada with reloadlable cards there were a lot of business rules in place as well, so if someone loaded more than a certain amount their card would be blocked. Usually these limitations are noted on the TERMS AND CONDITIONS of the product and they adhere to FINTRAC AML (Anti-Money Laundering) rules/regulations in US and Canada.
We had to forward the details to our Fraud Department who would investigate and eventually they would get their money back -- but it didn't happen in days, weeks sometimes longer.
If I were you I would look for a reloadable card as those are designed to add funds to the card... unless you mean that the card you have is reloadable. In my world pre-paid usually meant that you bought it for a set amount, used it and that was it with the card.
If I were you I would continue to fight to get my money back -- try not to be rude to the agent that you speak to, and always try to get a case/ticket number and any firm information on what the next step will be. If you are not getting anywhere with the agent, move it to the CS MANAGER then probably CS DIRECTOR. Most companies that offer these types of products will also have a FRAUD DEPARTMENT that you can try to escalate to (we never put our customers through to this group unless we had no choice and were told by someone there that they would handle the call -- this group can get VERY BUSY especially over the peak selling and usage period).
Good luck! If you have other questions, I can try to help.
