I started journeying into this a week ago. I trailed some, learned a lot.
Ended up getting a TNT sub for a month.
With that being said I am interested what is a good rate?
I want to put it on two devices
Also is it smarter to use a VPN or does it really matter? (Currently using PIA)
How does IPTV compare to Usenet groups? Pros and cons?
Also any things I should watch out for or certain settings you find to be best? ( On a firestick and Nvidia shield)

A good rate all depends on the service and what you are looking for. You can find some great value in the $5-7 range, and sometimes even under $10 for multiple connections. Just keep in mind that what you are actually buying isn't being built or run with eyes on the long term. This goes double for cheaper providers as well, as those who keep incoming subs open tend to oversell their servers a lot quicker, and as a result usually see shorter "this is working great!" lifespans.
VPN really depends where are you. If you are in the US for example you likely won't "need" one, but I always recommend them regardless.
Stick with the Smarters app to start, as that is generally the most newbie friendly option and especially as far as getting backend updates goes.
As for what to look out for, you can start with that guy trying to sell you on that 12 month ebay "deal" below. Lots of crappy providers, or ones as mentioned above who may be great now but probably won't see long lifespans of similar stability, prey heavily on the unsuspecting newbie tendency to go into this looking to save every last penny they can. The easiest way to go about doing this is by temping you in with a heavily discounted annual sub rate on the surface, usually disguised as some type of "sale", but which really just amounts to a short term cash grab on their end with no real surrounding concern for the future.
