About to give up on IPTV. Can’t get guide setup anyway I try.

by KalynnCampbell

Configured Kodi just fine. Installed several VOD services, works fine. Installed vaderstreams, works fine. EPG? Apparently not possible in ANY of the multiple methods I’ve already tried.

The wheel keeps spinning on “downloading guide data” forever, whether I let it run for minutes or the entire day. Not only does it stall, there is no progress indicator, so I don’t even know if it started or just said it did...

So I go to use third party addon EPGs: “TV Guide Full Screen”. Installs fine. Asks for a XMLTV file... don’t have that. Ask Vader. Nothing. Ask reddit, apparently it’s Vaders.tv/p2.xml.gz

It works up to 90 percent completion, then gets an error and says can’t import...

So my question, is there a 3rd party EPG that will just open and run, then let me configure channels with a playlist or something after I’ve verified it’s installed and working?

———————— All I want: on screen guide, streaming channels in Kodi.... was going to continue to use DirecTVs streaming service, but they didn’t offer a PC app so I gave up on that idea. ————————

If you’re going to criticize the service or addons, that’s fine, but link a BETTER one to me that I can either try before I buy or will offer a trial that’s not more than a couple dollars because I feel like I’ve already wasted too much money and time.

Been a while since i used kodi, ive never got on with it really but i seem to remember the guide i had was ivue https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.addictivetips.com/media-streaming/kodi/ivue-2-tv-guide-kodi-add-on/amp/

I did a quick and i mean very quick google and myiptv on the windows store is free and looked ok, dunno if its just a bullshit all though I’m a mac guy at home if i remember when I’m back at work ill install it and see how it works.

Are you stuck to watching on your pc? If you have a smart tv or some variety you could install smart iptv or smart stb (what i use).

Im sure a few people will say to get the most out of it you should get a box as the investment is still considerably less than a cable/sky subscription.

Personally for me kodi was a ballache for iptv but im sure others had it working fine, but i just spend the £5 on the iptv app for my tv

open the vaders addon, click tools, then clear cache, then clear epg data. close addon, then reboot kodi.

Also, use kod1 18 RC4, as it works better with vaders.

Morning,

What device are you using for using with Kodi?

paulie07

Why use kodi when there is plenty of apks around?

I've had pretty decent success in the past by enabling the Stalker portal rather than standard PVR. EPG is then pulled from the portal rather than an external source or a separate xml.

Once it's enabled you'll need to go into the add-on settings and enter the portal info/create a MAC, then add this into your providers portal. Should then work quite happily within the standard Kodi live TV section.

You should install Kodi 18 RC4, then the vaders addon. Input your login details into the vaders addon. Enable and setup IPTV PVR Simple Client.Scrap TV Guide Fullscreen. Get rid of it.

If you’re using PC, try progTV. It’s pretty decent.

You still having trouble? PM me and I'll guide you. Do you want only Kodi setup or you have other options that you want?

Never had a problem with Helix or the EPG loading in Kodi via their addon. Instructions are via their website knowledgebase

Surprised haven't seen Renegades TV guide mentioned yet, if you haven't figured it out yet I'd give that a try, I've tried them all and always go back to renegades you just enter your http://vaders.tv/p2.xml in the secondary m3u option (or main option) but you can also use renegades main XML along with Vader's so 2 epgs load ( haven't seen another TV guide do this successfuly) then from there you jus gotta go through the 2000 channels lol pick the ones you want put them in order and link them. Takes some time but worth it I've been using it 2years. You will have your days when it won't load but that's gonna happen with all of em.

Stop using Kodi for IPTV. Kodi is dog shit for EPG with IPTV so just use a dedicated IPTV app. If your lucky you can get a Kodi addon to support the app.

I have been in search of a solution for several months - for KODI (I can't comment on APKs as I do not use them, I am on MacOS and *Nix - I have heard they work but do not have many of the channels I want, think you know what those are and not porn, that seems to be working anywhere. lol). Being an engineer - for the U.S I do not currently see a EPG WITH a valid stream source of channels. What works currently for IPTV streams - in the U.S and every channel there is in the world+US+all the entertainment channels - is one I don't want to post publicly. Yes it does at times go down but no more than a few hours until the list goes back up and works fine. So I have decided to build an EPG package, with the mentioned streaming source. I do know EPGs can be linked to the add-on I mentioned but have not figured out the logistics of the changing source of the source streams - if that makes sense. I actually found this post trying to find an EPG that links currently. Ill report back after I create this system

What version of Kodi are you using? Have you configured the EPG in the Vader streams app? Have you tried using the Vader Streams APK?

aurillia

get a good iptv service with an apk like tvstreamsnow

Kodi is a piece of shit for IPTV. Stop fucking using it.

If you're too god damn fucking lazy to do a search in the sub for better software, well that's your fucking loss. There literally was a post last month where everyone listed the best software for IPTV, but it's obvious you're too lazy to even use the search function.
