They clamped down on iptv services recently. They were loaded by going on developer mode, which has been disabled for the end user. I did try those a year ago on roku and got sometbing else due to it being sluggish. Any private channels have been shut.

You can do this two ways via Plex:

  1. Setup xteve or telly or tvheadend and then add your IPTV to the plex live tv / dvr feature. Then it will show up as a live tv guide in Plex
  2. Use "Plex Retro" on your Roku and manually add one of the old IPTV plugins to your Plex server. This will only work for awhile though, as eventually Plex will kill all plugins (nobody knows how long.) And "plex retro" won't be on Roku forever either.

I also read a way to do it off a USB drive using Roku Media player (I think) but I can't find that link.

Unfortunately Roku is the least IPTV friendly streamer at the moment.

The way I'm currently doing it is with a cast app, specifically:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gfuentesdev.myiptvcast

And you're probably thinking you don't want a device that has to do the casting, well on the Roku Sticks I'm casting to it seems to just receive the link as the "casting" device doesn't seem to need to be turned on after it's sent link to the Roku.

If you don't care about EPG on the app, maybe because you wouldn't see it on the Roku anyways, then you can also use one of these that only do casting:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.instantbits.cast.dcast

or

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.instantbits.cast.webvideo

They both seem exactly the same to me, both work just as well.

You can do it with emby server also

Plex RARflix (private channel) has been working for me using either Rokify or Web Video Caster. Must also add Web Video Caster channel to Roku.

Emby would be your best bet.
