IPTV on Telus fiber in Canada

by PhantomNomad

I'm in Alberta Canada and I'm curious if anyone here uses IPTV over Telus' fiber? Are there any road blocks they throw up? What kind of data usage do you have (gigs/hour type thing)? I haven't pulled the trigger yet on any set top boxes but I was thinking of doing my own diy thing and using a raspberry pi 3.

Thanks for the replies. I'm signing up for unlimited after this months billing cycle as even without IPTV we are using close to 95% of the allotted bandwidth a month. Now just looking for the perfect box to get and it seems like the Shield is the best so far.

Ensure you have unlimited bandwidth. IPTV uses a lot of data. Min speed should be 20mb/sec.

I am a Telus Fibre customer and had no issues. I used either the custom apk's for the IPTV provider or an stb emu on my android boxes (1 cheap chinese box and 1 nvidia shield) and both worked fine. Sorry, i have the unlimited plan on my telus so i didn't track usage stats.

I have 10 customers on Telus fiber. I haven’t heard a peep from them. So I’m assuming they work fine.

Not with Telus (or even in Canada), but we're exclusively an IPTV + Netflix house with an unlimited fiber plan and here's our usage:

Those weekend spikes are pretty much "all-day" streaming where we'll throw on a channel and leave it on for the most of the day as we come-and-go.

I am in Canada and I had to use a VPN to bypass the IP address blocking from my provider.

You may need one too.

For the downloading, I am using between 400GB to 500GB each month.
