IPTV buffering, setup, service, etc.

by parts_unknown_

Hi Everyone - I have a couple of IPTV questions. I have streamed video previously using Kodi add-ons, the various APKs, etc. I found an IPTV service a few weeks ago and gave it a try (I am using an ‎Nvidia Shield, the service uses IPTV Smarters). It seemed to work good at first, but now it just buffers. I wrote the IPTV provider and he told me to change a few settings but I'm still getting the same results.

So I guess my questions are:

- Anyone use IPTV Smarters and have any suggestions on how to fix and/or alternatives?

- Is this common as far as a service to start off good, then drop in quality? Logically, I can see if it got more popular than their infrastructure everyone will suffer.

-Anyone have any general suggestions for Nvidia Shield IPTV setup as far as IPTV services/apps/players go?

First run a speed test on your actual Shield, not another device on your same network. Check those results and see what your Shield is actually getting. Second, your ISP could actually be throttling your service so try a VPN to see if that helps.

Mainly, record a video with your phone of a channel thats buffering, then have your iptv provider check on their end and send a video back showing the service there.

Most services have multiple ways to view iptv, for example you can use another device like for our service we have a web browser version and you could pull that up and see if the same channel buffers.

- Being a Nvidia Shield I'd suggest going into the Smarter app settings and changing the player setting to hardware. It can make a big stream stability difference on that app in particular, although most IPTV resellers (who don't actual ever use any of this stuff themselves) will rarely point that out to you.

- It's not only common, but for the most part it really is to be expected.

- This can depend a lot on your own specific set of preferences, as there really is no "great for everybody" option out there that doesn't require some level of sacrifice. Whether it be ease of use, general convenience , epg layout , ect ect ect. Generally speaking though and from a stability first standpoint I recommend Perfect Player. For those that need a little more hand holding and/or tend to be more the set up once and forget about it types I generally recommend sticking with the Smarter APK as it will provide the best back end update support.

Lastly and as far as IPTV goes, one of the very best aspects about the Nvidia Shield is that it has an ethernet port that allows you to hardwire your internet connection. Use it ;)
