There are rumours circulating that the next software update on the 23/24th January for Amazon firesticks could potentially block any IPTV apps. I'm not quite sure how that will work but if this is true then it could cause a huge headache for many providers.

So the auto updates are actually just to the apps installed. A software update from Amazon would come regardless. The settings this rumor recommends are actually good though as it helps keep you the most private. Many say Amazon won't do this, however don't be surprised if they do as the DMCA is putting tremendous pressure on them. That is why ROKU killed 3rd party development completely. If this happens, get yourself a regular Android box. Order from Amazon or eBay with a US seller as China sellers take about a month to arrive.
Just another reason why you shouldn't buy a device that you aren't in 100% control of. First Informir does this with the MAG, and now Amazon might be doing it.
