Problem with my MAG 254 and new sub - hardware or software issue?

I've had my MAG 254 for the past 2 years and used it daily with no issues. I needed to change providers this year and since I have the box is taking an eternity to load the portal, when it does the box is unresponsive to the remote control for a couple of seconds before responding to each click, and the channel lists won't load. I've updated software and tried resetting the router without success.

The new provider tells me no one else is having issues and they're pretty sure it's nothing at their end (the new package has more channels and a lot more VOD than I had previously - I don't think this should really make a difference but worth mentioning), so my question is whether this is a hardware issue with the box, but it seems odd that it has happened immediately after changing providers. I had a days trial with the provider with no issues.

Any ideas?

Seems like a portal issue. Best way to test it is find a free trial with another provider and test that one on the same box.

PM me, i have access to couple of servers, you can test it out and see if its a portal issue or indeed an issue on the box.

Yes I have noticed this recently as well, with some providers it can take an age to start up or load channels, I think its either bad configuration on the server side of the provider or too much for the 254 to handle, your options:

  1. Ask the provider to get rid of channels you don't use (the portal will load a lot faster)
  2. Change to another provider
  3. Get different hardware, 4k stick is a decent option right now

The 254 is underpowered. I just bought a 324 yesterday and it has double the RAM and still choked. Had to remove channels to load the portal.
