IPTV works fine on phone, but inconsistent on Nvidia Shield

by QuackCandle078

Hello all,

Hope this is the right place to ask.

I subscribe to Helix IPTV and have the android app installed on my Galaxy S8 and Nvidia Shield. I also have Perfect Player set up on the Shield.

When running Helix via the app and WiFi on my phone, it's perfect. Instant streaming, doesn't cut out etc. However, when I use the app on the Shield, sometimes it can take a couple of seconds for the stream to load and can buffer/cut out every few minutes. It's a lot less of a consistent service. This is the same if I use Perfect player on the Shield too.

Is there a reason for this? I brought the shield in order to get a perfect experience much like I get if I use the Helix app on my phone.

I got a trial week with NordVPN on the shield but that didn't make any difference.

Thanks for any tips or help!

nordvpn won't make any difference, because the problem is not the vpn, but the app. I would suggest installing android tv app. I find this app working pretty neatly.

Maybe it’s just Helix? Out of 15 or so iptv services I’ve tried, Helix was among the worst with buffering and overall channels down. Maybe it works better for others in different areas...?? But worth a shot trying a couple other iptv trials to see if you find a better fit.

See if this app plays any better on the shield

Is the shield WiFi or wired? It’s always recommended to wire (even though the phone is WiFi id still recommend trying wired with the shield) if you are already wired maybe try WiFi incase there’s a problem with the Ethernet or Ethernet port on the shield

Try turning your shield of ie pull out the power lead for a few seconds and turning it on again then clear the cache from the helix app and force close it finally then turn on your VPN and try to play a channel, I've had issues using a VPN and IPTV on my shield tv especially with android 8. The only way I've been able to fix it was by doing the above you may want to choose another server and or another country if this does not help

Just wondering,. but do you ever get the situation where audio continues to play fine but pic freezes?

I have 2 Nvidia Shields, 1 pro, one standard. Both serving as IPTV players, with 2 different providers, no issues. I agree with hardwiring your shield.

On the shield use HW+ decoder.

Buy a buzztv. All of these hardware platforms like shield are problems. It’s not what they are made to do.

I have a buzz 3000 and new 3900 and they are epic. Not a single issue.

thejameslavis

Absolutely not. I looked initially at the shield and it’s not made to do this. Buzztv is far cheaper and is made just for this. I never heard of buzz until I got into iptv. Get a real dedicAted iptv machine. Buzz xpl 3900 mops everyone up
