tvirl alternative on Nvidia Shield

by QuackCandle078

Hello all!

I posted yesterday ( https://www.reddit.com/r/IPTV/comments/an0hwz/iptv_works_fine_on_phone_but_inconsistent_on ) and received lots of great tips and advice, but I have another question!

After some playing and research I set up tvirl on my nvidia shield, and streamed via Live Channels. Wow! The streams don't buffer at all, the picture appears sharper and true HD, and it's incredibly responsive. Click and a thousandth of a second later the stream plays, no nonsense. I mean the Perfect Player and Helix app are excellent, but tvirl has taken it to another level!

The only issue is that the epg doesn't allow grouping of channels, so I basically have a list of 2000 channels which obviously is ridiculous to navigate up and down through. I know there's a long winded way of editing on xtream editor to allow for grouping, but there must be an easier way. So my question is:

Is there an app that works exactly like tvirl, in that I can stream on Live Channels, but also has automatic channel grouping like Perfect Player offers?

Thanks all for any tips or help you may offer.

Tivimate is the app you need. Best iptv app for shields hands down. You can hide groups you don't need, hide channels you don't need.

The interface is verysimilar to tvirl and the developer is constantly working on new updates sorting out the bugs.

Another vote for Tivimate

Another app worth a try is Solar Player. It's currently in beta but you can test it by visiting the following URL: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/io.solarplayer.app

So far I'm liking it. The developer is very active and responds to feedback. They have a telegram group too for feedback.

I used to like tvirl but developer seems very slow to release new features. It will be left behind as apps like Solar and TiviMate will take over

You can change type on your line to m3u_plus and you ll get list with groups on any app

I agree 1 million percent. If the DEV could ever get recording to a NAS drive, and ff and rewind, this would be the absolute killer iptv program which he could charge a premium for.

Live channels doesn't support channels grouping, so if you have many channel from your provider, like most of us have, TVirl is pretty much useless.

As you can see from all other comments here, TiviMate is the app for you.

It's lot better than TVirl and it has already lot's of crucial functionalities.

I've just come across a new beta app which is also available for nvidia called TiviApp Live. Works extremely well also.

Try Tsutaeru from the playstore, has extreme codes API and you can select which channel "folders" you want integrated.

I myself tried stbemu with Express Server and not a fan of it. Is there any alternative I can use? Does tvirl works with Mac based servers?
