Combing OTA and OTT?

by alec_sadler

What's the best way to combine both?

I'm trying to set something simple up for my parents that are... tech illiterate on the cusp of luddites.

I have an HD homerun. I'd like to get it to run with an IPTV. Local channels is a big concern for them.

I love TiviMate, but don't think it can do it. Emby looks like it might work, but I haven't tried and setting up remote access seems like a major pain. Kodi might work? I've been staying away from 18 until the wrinkles are ironed out.

There are a couple of methods to integrate HDHomerun with TiviMate in the thread below.

Use Live Channels on an Android TV, add the source for HDhomerun and then download and configure a program called TVirl that lets you add you own .m3u. Everything will appear on the same interface in the Live Channels app.

Emby would work with a HDHomeRun and a IPTV provider at the same time.

Have anything to spin up a Linux instal on? Something simple as a raspberry pi can run Xteve. Xteve will do your IPTV to Plex or Emby then just use HD Home run as usual. What I’m doing with Plex.
