Ditching my Raspberry Pi 2B+ for something better?

by Birdinhandandbush

I've had Kodi on the Pi since I had an original Pi a few years ago. I've been using the 2 B+ since it was launched, but I wanted to know if my next plan is good or bad.

One option is to buy one of those cheap android boxes.

The second option is that I have an unused intel based mini-pc. Its a Z8350 quad core with 4gb ram and 32gb emmc.

I can install launcher4kodi so it should run smoothly for the family, but realistically, and I'm looking for feedback, should I just go for the android box instead?

FireStick 4K. Runs Iptv and Kodi very well..and very affordable. Nvidia Shield just for Iptv is overkill...

Mi box or if you have funds Nvidia shield

Apks now are excellent. Kodi is great, but all those repos...addons...changing all the time. It is quite clunky also, in comparison to Android apks. Id go grab a midrange Android box, take youre pick, nvidia shield obviously being the No 1 kiddie on the block. Then grab a handful if apks to suit your needs & you are away. BeeTv is great for movies\TvShows...there are many others out there. For live grab a sub from a decent IPTV provider, thats all you need.

I'd recommend an amlogic s912 Android box And install libreelec.

If you are looking for a better SBC I would strongly recommend a Odroid XU-4

The new firestick 4K runs well with Vaders. It’s also pretty snappy.

Installed iptv on friends new fire stick and mi box seems to be easier with USB side load . Android TV seems smoother than amazon OS

I've moved over to an Android OS on my TV. Works amazingly. IPTV streams hardly ever crash now compared with Simple PVR on Kodi on Pi.

Just save yourself the headache and get an Nvidia shield. You can find them on sale for $140 sometimes.

I’m a Raspberry PI enthusiast but I have moved on to the Amazon 4K Fire Stick. It packs a punch and the performance is similar to my Nvidia Shield but for a fraction of the price.

Plus the Alexa remote is awesome.

Nvidia shield. Get some apk's ( beeTV, titanium tv, anime dlr, etc), install iptv, set up kodi how you like, (I love bingie skin), throw some emulators on there with retroarc, or w.e. and you're set. Can even stream games from your pc to your tv.
