IPTV Pause, Rewind, Fast Forward?

by komobu

I am using a Nvidia Shield w/128gb sd card. I am looking for an iptv app that will let me pause and back up. If I miss a line in a movie, or want to see a sports play a few times, I wouild like to pause it and go back. Also some times I watch only half of a movie on one night and would like to watch the other half tonight. I would like to forward through the movie to get where I left off. I would really like a way to record the stream and then delete it after I am through with it.

Any iptv apps that have this feature? Any recommendations?

Thanks

It's not easy. Most stable options use a backend running on another system. I have tvheadend running on a raspberry pi which gives all of the above as well as pvr and series recording. Tvheadend has kodi add ons that let you connect to the tvheadend system as well, so you can get live pause pvr erc on other systems.

Try IPTV extreme pro app. That's what I use in my Nvidia Shielf

Any IPTV app that uses 3rd party players like VLC or MX player as an alternative option will work. IPTV SMARTERS allows this I know.

I hate the UI/UX (just ugly and not family use friendly), but Perfect Player does CatchUP and VOD quite well for .ts streams, and allows FF/RW.

I've tried all of the IPTV apps I'm aware of that both integrate with Live Channels and offer pause/rw/ff function: NextPVR, TVheadend and Streamin DVR, but they are we're inconsistent for me (using external storage or PC storage when applicable). While short pauses work for most, RW and longer pauses did not work consistently for me...often when I'd want them working most.

Perfect Player always seems to work well for Catch Up, VOD but I've never used it to record (not sure if it even can). However, with a flawless working CatchUp (ie. pick any show from past 10 days EPG history and start watching), I've never needed to record anything.

I hate the idea of adding another box just to rewind, but know there are plenty...just nothing I'm interested in adding, especially when the Shield has better HW.

OP, or anyone else, if you want help getting catchup working on PP, just shout here or DM and I'll get you going. It's not super intuitive or clearly documented anywhere...but works like a dream once setup!

I'm really curious as well. I've tried tons of apps and NONE even have the ability to pause live channels as far as I know. Even the bulit in app live channels doesn't offer this yet I think. The only thing that comes close is STBEmu with a MAG provider on catch-up content, but then you're still restricted to whatever channels the provider decides to offer catchup on. Even standalone boxes like dreamlink have are horribly convoluted to access recorded content.

The only reasonably full featured way I'm aware of is with a 2 part solution like TV headend on a server and the android app running on the box.

Emby does everything you want. There’s now a server for Shield. Full recording from EPG (single event and series). Pretty awesome. I’m using it with exact same setup (Shield/128gb flash).

You can do this with nextPVR on windows and I think tvheadend on linux. But no idea about android, which is what I assume the nVidia shield runs.

StbEmu app... And, the timeshift feature. Use MAGic Remote app to control STBEmu.

Replace your shield with a Z7+. It's the unpopular opinion, but it will make life easier for you.
