I'm newer to IPTV and the firestick is $50. I was wondering if there was an android box that is the equivalent price that you would recommend. I'm only using it to watch TV. Should I just purchase the firestick or go another direction?
Thanks

firestick + the wired dongle for the win
We use a firestick for iptv, plex, Netflix, etc and absolutely love it.
I was asking this question to myself just a few days ago.
I ended up buying a Fire Stick 4k and I got the adaptor for the wired connection.
Works absolutely perfectly. No issues whatsoever with the streams and very easy to set up.
The most annoying thing I found with the Firestick was all of the Amazon bloat. It might be ok if you watch a lot of Prime content, but I don't so I much prefer my Mi Box and pure Android TV in general.
Mi box is good also
Get a firestick 4k. Better than 95% of android boxes out there
I like the FireStick 4k as a cheap device option -- it was on sale last week for $40 but looks like that ended yesterday. Its compact (hides behind TV), has dual band wifi (prefer using 5Ghz) and better quality than cheap $30-$40 Android TV boxes -- you can search for "android tv box" on Amazon then sort by price and look at the reviews if you want a box instead.
The Fire remote doesn't have many buttons but if you have a newer TV that supports HDMI-CEC then you should be able to control Fire devices with the TV remote. I have a Samsung MU6290 and a LG UJ6200 -- I can control the FireStick with the TV remote after turning on HDMI-CEC in Fire settings and TV settings.
Both Samsung & LG remotes can use up/down/left/right/"ok"/back/play/rewind/forward/4 colored buttons -- just can't do Fire menu or home buttons. If I turn off the TV using the TV remote then the FireStick does go to the home screen (similar to hitting home button on Fire remote) and eventually falls asleep so the last app you were using won't stay running -- I can get by with just using the TV remote most days
I use beast tv for my 4K and it works beautifully
Save up for a nvidia shield, your eyes will thank you!
Bought a firestick... Not disappointed
Both are good cause here must be use siptv app or stb emu
Could someone explain what I couldn’t do with the fire stick that I would be able to do with a more dedicated IPTV device like the z7+? Thanks.
Firestick is licensed to play Netflix properly, obviously has warranty, support and full Amazon backing.
Android boxes (apart from Nvidia Shield @$200 and Mi Box @$70) are joke chinese boxes assembled in rice fields somewhere with 3 year old specs running a Phone Android OS that has nothing to do with TV, avoid like HIV.
I love my new 4k stick. I put my old Mi Box in a drawer.
