For the life of me I can not figure out how to record a show/movie.
What am I missing?
I am using a MAG256 and running Voodoo if it matters.

YOu need to use hard drive or USD disk then you can record
On my sub in could only record if I wasn't watching - similar to the way satellite boxes need dual tuners in order to record. My sub has a playback feature though for the major channels you can go back a week so don't really need to record. Maybe your sub has it too. You need to have a USB drive in the box, and your provider has to have it not blocked, because yes there is a feature in Stalker to stop this from happening.
Honestly if you want to record your shows, get a Z7+, as the Z8 still can't schedule recordings! Or better yet, just get a provider with really good catchup.
This question hasn't been asked for about a year or more, so your search would have probably been empty.
Most suppliers don't know how to enable recording on a Mag box.
On my mag I can only record if I insert a USB key r external hard drive. You cant record directly on your internal memory. And some sub's won't allow recording.
