Correcting Aspect Ratio on Firestick 4K

by indianafanatic

Using eUTV, Blast Off, KODI and others, I've noticed that even though I set the player's aspect ratio to 16;9, and it fills the screen properly, it appears to be 'squished' (being taller than wider)

What am I missing in the settings? For reference, I am streaming on a 4K Firestick.

The first picture is taken directly from Netflix, showing black bars above and below the film, presenting what I consider to be a "normal' viewing experience.

The second picture is what I see when watching movies via IPTV. I'm hopeful that the difference is discernible and that it isn't just my eyesight. There are no black bars and below, and the image appears to be thinner , if that makes any sense. The top and bottom have been stretched to fill the screen.

I have snaps of the picture in the other available IPTV aspect ratios, but they all maintain that same thinnish characteristic. If seeing the others might help someone pinpoint what setting needs to be tweaked, I will add those as well.

You can use siptv app there

Not all channels will be 16:9 ratio so if there's an auto setting then select that otherwise you might have to manually change it to widescreen 21:9 or 2.35:1 ratio.

FireStick ratio settings leave it on auto -- play around with your TV ratio settings and your IPTV app ratio settings

You have to use scan mode should be after 16.9

Did you try the display calibration in fire tv settings? If you can't adjust your tv to 'screen' or 'actual' size, the fire tv can scale up/down.

I think a picture here could help someone figure out what is going on.

Did you ever solve this issue? I’ve just got one and have the same issue. Aspect ratio is fine on tv, Netflix, menu etc but not on films on the app.
