Samsung SmartTV - Best IPTV App?

by Polite_Canadian_Guy

Hey Folks, I am currently using the SmartIPTV app on the tizen app store and it is working but my main issue with it is i cannot seem to favourite any channels. With thousands of them listed, i would like to quickly get to a grouping of my most commonly watched.

Wondering if anyone knows of a way to do this, or has a better recommendation of a tizen compatible SmartIPTV app i can use that does?

Thanks!

edit: I figured out how to do the favourites from the app. You will need to load the channel in question fully and hit the red button on your remote to favourite it. It will then create your own favourite group on the main menu.

I will leave the post up in case someone else is having the same trouble. Feel free to let me/others know of your favourite Samsung TV apps!

I have smart iptv and it's good. I was not able to try Smart STB. It gives me an error when I try to create my account.

You can favorite from the channel selection with the green button, I think.

Then it creates a favorites group.

FYI, I use Smart IPTV too, my only issue with it is that it stutters and freezes on my TV. I used to think it was due to my streaming quality, but on Kodi the same channels play fine and are stable.

I use the same app and have been doing so for over a year. What I do is to edit, organize amd filter my channels using xtream-editor and then use the xtream editor playlists in Smart IPTav app. Works well for me.

Not sure if anyone read the article on 'aerialview.tv' site (don't like linking sites as a JIC - just do a lookup for 'SmartIPTV app has been banned' and you should find it) , but...

Samsung (and possibly a few other TV brands soon to follow) set their update channel to remove, and ban, SIPTV. It's due to a Spanish media company called MediaPro accusing the "app" with infringement. Samsung tried to contact/explain that that's not how this app (or any app) works, but they just blasted out the accusation, then ignored/refused any further correspondence, so SS just went with removing/banning it. If you still have the app, it WILL work, but for how long... (???)

Just to note - even before I found that article, I was using SIPTV as well, but (IMHO) it didn't work all that great in the first place (EPG never worked for me, provider links would - then wouldn't - work, then only an m3u file worked, had to reload the links/file every other wk, lag/buffer issues, etc.), so I started researching other options that didn't break the bank.

In the end I chose (and really like) the Fire TV Stick (non-4K) with Kodi and it works really great, and easy to add favs to (just hover over channel, hit Menu button on remote and choose 'Add to Favs'). I got mine on sale (prob cuz non-4K) for $30 CA, but reg is only $50 anyway (4K is $70). Also, if you don't like Kodi, there's piles of other apps to choose from (Kodi, Perfect Player, Tivimate, Smarters - to name a few), including the direct apk from your provider (if they offer it - the good ones do). You can also use (if you have one) your own media server apps (Emby, Plex - altho I don't know about adding favs)

Anyway, just an FYI on the (or so it sounds) direction SIPTV is going (for SS anyway)

Anyone know if it's possible to search on the samsung smart IPTV app?

I just learned about Philo. It's pretty awesome.

Your best app is to buy a dedicated box. This isn't the first time someone has asked this stupid fucking question. Use the god damn search function.
