South African here: What kinda programming is on DSTV that you can't find elsewhere? Apart from PSL games I can't imagine something I'd want DSTV for unless you're a huge fan of local news and magazine shows... Which I wouldn't understand but that's your preference.
Actually, Afrikaans programming is a big one to miss when I think about it.
