Are they the best thing to get now?
Cheapest most effective
Edit: for cost
simplicity and price really. have 2 at home and bought 2 more for my folks, and its just easy to use. And tivimate is currently the best app for firesticks.
If you do get one get the 4k one, I recently upgraded to one and it's great.
Stick is the cheapest and very effective apps on it that are good tivimate perfect player xciptv and smarters if your wanting to spend more on a device then the z8 is a decent option the best option is the nvidia shield but cost is high but you pay for what you get and that machine is the best as for a sub mate give me a PM cheers
Yea Tivimate is good still needs work and there is so OTT Navigator which even has PIP
Assuming the price is the same between the Z8 and the shield (In the US the shield will get to the $150 range occasionally ), what can the Z8 do better than the shield? I know the Z8 has the TV online 2 player that's supposedly very good. Is there anything else in the Z8s favor? Thanks.
they're the best for the price. i love my firesticks but I'm sure there are better options if you're looking to spend a little more AND have the knowledge. I wouldn't mind going up a notch if I knew what I was doing.
I have a shield on my main tv, and 3 firestick 4k’s on my other TVs. I have tivimate premium running on all of them, as far as for iptv, it runs great on the fire sticks, no major difference. I woulda got just a 4k firestick had I known how well everything runs.
I can’t stand the shield remote, especially that volume slider, otherwise great though.
I'm using an ordinary non-4k-firestick, and it's working perfectly for what I'm wanting. I live in Germany, but love watching UK TV. Found an IPTV provider that offers german and uk channels for a decent price, and I'm using SmartIPTV as an app (though I've seen people saying that other apps are much better... but for me, it's just working, I'm editing my playlists with an editor on windows, upload the playlist to the app, reload it and tada, get all my channels in the order I want them).
All in all, I've paid 25 bucks for the stick & the app, and monthly around 10 bucks for the service - and I couldn't be happier.
If you're using other services like Netflix or Amazon Prime, that also works flawless.
If you intend to use something like Sky Ticket, you'd need to install Kodi and that's where it's getting a bit slow (navigating through the UI I mean), but watching shows or channels is not a problem at all - I'm using Wi-Fi and I don't have any buffer-issues.
Philo and Roku is the best.
Is a wifi connection good enough to stream iptv? Or can you connect a LAN cable to the fire stick?
No, Z8 or Buzz
Vague question with no specifics, so vague answer. Yes a firestick (and/or firestick 4k) will be perfectly fine for IPTV.
The "newer" models are so much better than the OG sticks.
firestick 4k works perfectly. i think people who bought the shield are just trying to justify all the extra money they spent. i don't see how it could offer any improvement in terms of performance, unless it can instantly buffer as opposed to taking a few seconds to load, that's about the only actual performance improvement that can be made.
you don't need yet another system that can run a SNES emulator. every gadget that came out since 2007 can run a snes emulator with controller. and besides, you can hook up an xbox controller to the firestick.
maybe if you are a long bearded media wizard the shield will pay off, but at that point you are watching too much tv and movies anyways. firestick 4k + open a savings account
Yes the 4k firestick is the best thing for the money. Everyone who overspends on an nvdia shield or another box will try and argue otherwise, and maybe the software is nicer but latest firestick is overpowered for iptv. Other than that just get a good internet speed and a good router with wireless AC.

I love the Fire Cube and MMA atV works perfect on it. I use the Kodi Addon and SmoothProxy with PP
http://toru.la works well on the fire tv.
I tried them all and prefer the shield above everything else
