Hello guys,
I'm currently using PerfectPlayer and like it so far - decent guide, favorites, fast, etc. I'm using Helix at the moment but planning to get a second provider for redundancy purposes. While I know, PP allows you to add multiple playlists/EPGs, I don't think it will automatically switch/failover to the secondary playlist should the primary one fail. Is there a way to do this with another app? Which failover methods do you guys use?
It'd be great if there was an app with some kind of link-health monitor feature for this but I guess I'm asking for too much as it is.
Thanks in advance.
You should look into Tvheadend.
I have mine setup to do exactly this. It does require a small server (any computer within the last 15years or even a raspberry pi would be powerful enough) and then you’d use Kodi to interface with it. Also provides whole home DVR if that’s your thing.
I also have mine configured to restart the stream if there’s an error, and if it can’t restart the stream it will switch to the same channel on another playlist, or backup channel if your playlist has them.
There is a learning curve to it and it can be daunting at first. But it’s 100% free, and very worth it once you get it going.
