For Gold or Express, the choice is simple, Formuler. They are both MAC based servers and will work far better on a dedicated box than an android box running STBEmu.
Really, regardless of service, if you are only interested in IPTV, the Formuler should be the choice, but an argument can be made for the Shield with some services running their dedicated apps, but that's not even an option for the two services you mentioned. There is only one way to watch those services on a Shield and that's with an app called STBEmu. Makes it a no brainer, get the Z8/Z7+
Also you'll find very few 4K IPTV channels
tbh Neither. Everyone who brought a Z8 later found out about the Buzz 3900. Its got an extra Gb of RAM and its octa core. Z8 is 2gb and quad core.

The Z8 is what you want as others have said. Unlike the Shield, it does have full recording capabilities, manual timeshifting, etc. As for 4k UHD content, no. There is one provider that has an actual 4k channel and 25mbit, but everyone else that has 4k is running massive upscaled shit, or lying. Hell there is barely any 4k content in the real world.
I recommend the Z7+... the Z8 is new and still some bugs to fix...

I have Shield but considering Formuler Z8. Can I still get the android apps like PP, Tivimate, OTT navigator, ProgTV, IPTV Extreme PRO on the Formuler ? My guess is no. So do people just use the 1 solitary app MyIPTV Online app on the Formuler ? What is the back-up ?
Has anyone used this box with Venom? Also is it worth purchasing? I already have a Nvidia Shield.
The shield has more uses , but get a dedicated top box if you're sure you just want iptv
