I have z8 with MTOL 2 on one tv and the shield with Tivimate premium on the other lol

If you want the best IPTV experience go with the z8 hand down. MTOL 2 is the best IPTV I’ve seen (it has everything Tivimate premium has but with a recording option and option to use portal link or m3u). The remote is great. I hooked up my hard drive to the z8 and use it as a DVR for future recordings.

If you plan to use the device for other things then Shield is the best for Kodi, gaming, etc; but for IPTV it works well enough but doesn’t have anything special and you could get the same IPTV experience out of a smart tv with stb emu or a cheap $80 Android box with Tivimate on it. My primary purpose for the Shield is Kodi and then I only use IPTV on it for live sports

Mytvonline2 > TiviMate

I respect what TiviMate is doing but it doesn't even come close to how good Mytvonline2 is. Everyone who disagrees has not used Mytvonline2.

I use Tivimate (premium) on a 2nd Gen Firestick and LOVE it!! Can only imagine how good it would be on a device that is good like the Shield! I guess the question is what else do you want the device for. If just IPTV, maybe the Shield is overkill? But if you want to do some gaming (Retro or otherwise), the Shield might be the best option.

I using z8 changed from mAg aswel. For the price a z8 very good. EPG OK you can record, plus in new update coming lots of good stuff

I have a Nvidia Shield and use OTT Navigator & Tivimate. Both fantastic apk's.

I have the premium Tivimate and it sucks. It is horribly incomplete. I mean, other apps feature full voice support and channel searching capabilities etc... So there is no reason to use an incomplete application.

Perfect player is a good option as well if you're ok with an ugly icon lol

For what it's worth, I have a shield as a client to my home theatre setup (plex) but still use the z8 for iptv. It's much better than the shield for tv!

For the record tho, I haven't used tivimate in a month or so, so maybe there have been updates since then.

Still, I've been using iptv since 2012 and have used almost every box ever released (check iptvgta subreddit for my YouTube videos) and I'm pretty confident when I say the shield isn't the top box.

Anyone found a way to get MyonlineTV 2 for the shield? I know people tried in the past but couldn’t get a developer to make it an open source. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE Tivimate but the random buffering is a little annoying. Always have to channel up and down to fix.

I use ProgTV on my Android TV (Mi Box S) and have made my own bouquets using their free Windows program.

It takes a bit of time (maybe 1 hour or so) but

- you can do it offline,

- you can do it for free,

- you don't have to shuffle through 10,000+ channels to find the one you want, or jump through countries to find a channel that's incorrectly categorized,

- ProgTV allows for recording (and for services that offer catchup, you can use it too, but I've never seen it).

Cons:

- the app can get a bit glitchy (sometimes it lags a lot, but fixes itself quickly - I think this is an issue with the Mi Box S and would assume it runs much better on the Shield)

- there's a keyboard bug where if you click on Search, it would randomly type the letter "k" itself. Small bugs, but they don't hinder the usage.

- The app may seem overwhelming but it's not too bad. The stock settings may not be suitable for everyone.

- The default codecs for rendering streams are OpenMax and FFMpeg. Don't use OpenMax but instead use MediaPlayer - since that literally works with any stream. Leave FFMpeg where it is (it's a con because the default setting needs to be changed).

I can't find another app that lets me configure the service on my computer, and let me import the settings profile into the app with one click, AND support recording... so I'm living with these bugs. Until I find another app, I'm sticking with this.

I figured out tivimate - I am also using Xpedite (lenexo) pretty good, but need a secondary option
