I'm new to the IPTV world and from what I've seen the formuler z8 and Nvidia shield seem to be some of the best IPTV boxes you can get. I'm stuck between the two so could really use some help choosing. I'd ideally like to record if possible and run nordvpn.
Which one would you choose? And what IPTV provider would you recommend?
I own both and the Z8 is by far the best if you just want IPTV. Nothing beats turning on the box and immediately having TV appear, just the same as if it were a cable box. Not to mention the awesome DVR and time shifting capabilities and beautiful guide.
Avoid z8 like it's an AIDS distribution device.
Nothing beats SHield for an android box.
For me the shield as you have other possibilities with android in terms of apps. The stb emu works fine as do many other apps.
I own both devices, the z8 is not worth the asking price it's basically cheap hardware with an app on a mobile OS.
If you want a true android experience, go with the shield.
I'd probably be happier with the z8 if I'd paid £50 or £60 for it, but for a box costing around £125 it's just a rip off.
I have Z7+ and love MyTVOnline but I know the Z8 had some serious issues at launch. Maybe someone can confirm if these have been fixed?
The shield is the best all round android box but if you are buying to only use IPTV then the formuler box is the one to get.
The Z8 had a big update in March which fixed the launch issues AFAIK

If you can live with not having 4k netflix and youtube etc. (IMO there are much better free alternatives to netflix) get the Z8. People tend to overpay for a shield if all they are using it for is IPTV/media.
Just wanted to say formuler z7+ all the way. I have it on 2 TVs. I don't plan to upgrade to z8 even if thee cost was free. If your 100% happy with something why change. Why I like it. Other than the next to cable like experience, I like the standby mode, takes like 3 seconds to go from standby to streaming my last channel. Everything is fast the way a cable box would be. Dedicated remote controller designed for the app. Also very quick and easy to swap between my 3 different IPTV providers when one starts to have quality issues. I haven't even had minor issues with them.
I own two shields an a formuler Z8 , and I use my formuler z8 more. If it just using for iptv the formuler has a better experience. If your going to use the box for Netflix and Amazon video and games ect then go with the sheild.. but the iptv in my opinion is alot better. Go on YouTube and check it out. U can always buy both and use them for a few days, and return the one u dont want..
Wow why all the haters about the Z8? I love mine!! For iptv it looks and runs amazing. And i use it more then the two shields I have
I'd sell my Shield for a z8 in a second if the z8 supported 4K Netflix.
Nividia shield hands down.
For approx. the same price, you get way more for you're money (netflix 4k, youtube 4k, android gaming, geforce game streaming, etc, etc, etc). I bought mine 3years ago and it's still the best android box on the market.
Also check tivimate for the IPTV. Best iptv app if your provider support m3u.
