Right now I have an firestick with kodi, which is slow and cumbersome to get to actual tv.
I also have a PI, which works great, but even with a remote, it's a bit of hassle for my wife and kid.
Any recommendations for a lightweight , easy to use setup ? Like minimum clicks to get to TV.
Recording isn't necessary really. Dont really need an EPG. Just to be able able to hit a handful of channels quickly with minimum clicks & delays.

I use a nvidia shield with TiviMate and could not be any happier with operability and performance.
Consider a zgemma i55 plus iptv box. Easy enough to flash and setup. You can then get it looking how you like through the use of skins.
Recording is an option depending on the provider.

4K Fire Stick is really quick and responsive. Just swapped out my gen 1 Fire Stick in the bedroom. They are on offer every so often (in the UK at least).
Kodi is a poor solution for IPTV. I’ve got two 1st gen firesticks and a 4K pendant that I use for IPTV and they’re great.
There are plenty of IPTV dedicated apps available (TiviMate, Smarters, XCIPTV, IPTV Extreme, PerfectPlayer, GSE). These are mostly used for live TV but don’t include any channels.
If you’re looking to watch movies and the like get apps TeaTV or Titanium. They work similar to Kodi but without the overhead.
