IPTV and VPN's

by Throwawayyourmemory

Here is a question for everyone here in IPTV.

Who uses a VPN alongside there IPTV for an extra level of security? And is this a good habit?

I realize there are some cases where VPN's are required to bypass some Geo blocking, but I'm more interested in if people are using a VPN with there IPTV service as an extra layer of protection. Something to prevent their ISP from seeing they are using their internet for.

Is this needed? Is it overkill?

Let's discuss

I guess no one hear has heard of copyright infringement. Someone some where owns the rights to almost everything on iptv, no matter where it is from. There are exceptionslike Pluto Tv. You call it grey area I call it not having proper evidence yet. Users may not be concerned yet but when they go after someone it will not be users at first it will be the panel owners. VOD and Series is very illegal everywhere in the world. Just no ones be charged yet. The bigger iptv gets, the sooner the owners of will start to put pressure on the "The Man" to start doing something. No such thing as grey area. Sorry guys I live in US and spoke to and paid for a lawyer to tell me this. My son in Canada did the same.

Always when using IPTV. I use NordVPN.

I am in Canada I don’t use a VPN either, I figure if you use PayPal/credit card to pay you can be traced anyways. Unless your paying via crypto and not many people do.

I don’t use one. I’m in Canada where streaming is more of a “gray” area and not quite illegal...yet. I don’t download anything. If you are downloading I’d suggest a VPN though.

From the USA.....I always use a VPN with eternal. I know plenty of people who don't.....I just think if rather keep my use private in case the day comes where they crack down or even just start to throttle. I use ipvanish and find sometimes I have to try it different servers to get the speed I need but it's really not an issue otherwise.

I always try to have it on when using iptv.

Besides, you can enjoy some shows on Netflix and Amazon and local national channels in other countries that are on premium pay movie channels in the US, so a vpn is more use than just obfuscation. It's a worthwile investment.

To be clear though, a vpn is only good for keeping private parties at arms length. Every vpn has folded under the legal demands of state actors and no form of darknet is immune to state surveillance. Hell, TOR was created by US Naval research and has all the relevant backdooring.

My provider runs a VPN on his end so I 'think' I am protected

I’ ve always used VPN for privacy, even before new EU copyright law. Furthermore, recently in my country, VPN became a necessity for IPTV because of ISP throttling.
