Does IPTV work with a 5Mbps speed?

by TheRealSilverBlade

My parents live in an area where the fastest possible speed is 5Mbps. Slow, I know.. (I myself have 300)

They want to cut the cord (satellite), but they want to be able to watch sports - NHL and CFL (Canada).

Would any IPTV service work with 5Mbps? or is that too slow?

Edit: Netflix streaming is just fine.

That's a solid no.

I have 4mb/s. Most streams up to 720p work most of the time. If the internet’s a bit slower than usual, it becomes a buffery mess. If it’s for your parents and they want a consistent experience, I wouldn’t recommend.

possible if the iptv provider has standard 720p streams of those channels... watching 1080p sports streams might not handle so well.

I have 8mbps on speed tests and can watch 1080 live streams with no issues.

You need to get a free test 24 hour before purchase and test the channels out .. don't use wifi either it must be a wired connection from modem to iptv device. WIFI only if the modem and device are in line of site no walls in the way.

Holy crap where do they live? Fkn nunavut

I’m guessing they live somewhere that is only serviceable by Hughesnet or another satellite internet company. If so sadly I don’t think you are going to find an iptv service. My sister lives in such a place and her Netflix barely works (buffers a lot).

This is a case where Gears might be your best option. The biggest issue with them is always stream quality, however the upside is that the service is extremely stable and the EPG is the best.

Gears is my go-to when I'm travelling and only get about 4Mbps in the hotel room. It works well in low bandwidth circumstances. And the guide is parent friendly.

There is a IPTV provider on Aliexpress and I saw a comment where a guy said it was working on 5mbps. Not going to link it here, but it's the highest rated one on Ali.

It might work with SD channels and if you're lucky with HD channels but it's definitely not going to work with FHD channels. But just get some trials and see it for yourself.

4mb is suppose to be good enough for 1080 but from experience should get a good 20+mb line for a stable stream to work. https://www.iptvstreams.cf/
