Fire stick buffering, under powered?

by austoindo

Hi all

I just got a firestick to free up my laptop trying to stream my IPTV providers m3u. All good got it to load but keeps buffering, will this issue be rectified if I plug it in to a wall socket? It's currently running off USB as it shipped with a foreign power adapter, just don't want to waste the money unless I'm sure it will work. Thanks.

Edit I should mention it works fine on my laptop connection is fast enough.

I felt obligated to update here. It seems to have been nothing to do with the fire stick, rather the ISP blocking the ports (or slowing) the ports it wants to use. After setting up private VPN under the IPTV setting it's working perfectly.

Did you test with other programs on the stick. Lots of us use firesticks for iptv without issue. Try iptv smarters or xciptv or perfect player.

Yes once you plug it in, you’ll see a world difference. Most usb on TVs are shit for power. I’m actually surprised it isn’t rebooting on you.

How old is it? I notice I get around a year out of them before they become too slow with updates.

How far away is the router? It isn’t the fire stick “power” it’s the WiFi.

And running it through usb would slow it down.

Worth to mention also to do a clear cache at least once a week. And a reboot won’t hurt either. Those little things don’t have enough memory to keep up when cache its full. And depending the app from your provider, there should have an option to change the video decoder from Software to Hardware. Hope that helps!!

FYI I have an old Fire TV 4K box (1st generation I think). I get buffering on that and no other device. I'm using GSE Iptv app. So I think the box is just under powered and running out of memory. So I'm waiting on Amazon doing an offer on the latest version

I think that often with buffering people go straight to "it must be the wifi" when in fact there are many other factors
