Been using Tivimate with the shield for a few months now and it's excellent.
Anyone know of an alternative to Tivimate that allows basic DVR functions? Not to schedule recording, but to record what you're watching to allow you to pause and rewind at all?

Tried the Mi Box but quickly returned it, because I was used to consuming media on my PS4 and couldn't handle the lagginess. Also couldn't find out which app was constantly uploading stuff from it and thereby using up my bandwidth but that could've been down to my individual configuration.
Got a Shield TV with TiviMate and am very happy now, can only recommend - snappy device, everything just works very well, great remote, two USB slots (one for a keyboard, one for the Gamepad charger or whatever else) - 10/10
Last guy is right. The High end devices are the Nvidia Shield and the formuler Z8.
Tivimate is a very nice application for IPTV. Would be the best if it integrated VOD content better. I hear updates are in the works though. XCIPTV is a nice application also. You may want to try that out as well.
In reference to service provider apps, some are good and some are basic. All depends on the provider.

Amazon has a used unit for $159 that is probably new with damaged box but check for yourself first.
