Telus and VPN in Canada

I'm using Helix in Canada on Telus fibre. Should I be using a VPN?

Already got caught downloading torrent, I'm using one. I don't think you have to but it's safer that way.

No VPN needed in Canada. You will stream fine, but they will have your IP, so IF a TV provider manages to get your IP technically they could sue...

If you are only watching streams, at this point i wouldn't worry about a VPN. However, recording any streams i would use one.
