To MAG or not to MAG

by rosswinter

Hi Guys,

I've been a happy IPTV user for ages now, my requirements are not unusual and I've been perfectly well served by a (slightly clunky but stable) MAG emulator on a android box (STBEmu)...

Now coming to renewal time everyone seems to have moved to native apps and MAG lines are seen as "old hat"... I just wondered what the group feeling was...

Don't fix what isn't broken or move to the new and shiny?

Thanks :)

Mags are very restrictive as your limited to the mac its tied to unless your pally pally with your provider.

My mag is old but does the trick it's not so much the boxes as the new android ones are great it's the softwear in 3 years my mag has never let me down or had to tinker once its just works yet my firestick 4k I love but the apps PP /SMARTERS etc are a pain having to change players re load m3u crashes can't say that with mac

Stbemulator for me followed by smarterspro. I like them both, but do prefer the mag layout and look.

Mags don’t always have the codecs to play certain video formats where with an android device you can change players. Also mag manufacturer is actively blocking providers.

Yes that's the only problem with magsthe none supported codecs live tv is great buty also don't support dts audio for movies TV series why I got a cheap firestick for movies there's lots of free sites for them

Use a mag for a simple plug and play experience. I think it's the closest thing to watching normal old fashioned cable/satellite TV
