What would be a good device to watch IPTV on?

by erby

I'm quite new to this IPTV world and i use the IPTV app on my smart TV but its very basic and annoying when trying to find channels or search for VOD. So I would prefer a device where i would able to get around easily, record live tv and watch another channel if possible, also catch up tv would be great.

I've seen a lot of talk about the Formula Z8/Dreamlink and the MAG devices where there's quite a difference in prices but is it worth paying that difference for what i want. When i search online there's so many different devices sold and reviewed but the reviews are always different.

Also don't need it have netflix or other apps as the smart TV has what i need :)

Thanks in advance, any advice would be greatly appreciated .

Apple TV can record using GSE app. You can also record using an enigma 2 box such as zgemma (although a bit trickier to set up). Firesticks are great (and simple to use) but not able to record sadly.

Get the Dreamlink T3. what a fast high quality box with upgrade available for android when needed. Most boxes do not do that. Record function is amazing. The T2 is a cheaper version for less that $100 us the T-3 is $150. Most other devices of this quality cost much more. Stay away from mags. they have call home coding so u can't trust them. They force providers to change servers names and lock you out until to buy the new sub. I can't comment on freezing cause I never get any from my subs. The cheaper devices freeze more

Nvidia Shield has changed my life with IPTV mainly because I added gaming to my IPTV box. I used to run BuzzTv boxes and now we hate those boxes throughout the house that still run. We’ll replace them all with Nvidia Shields soon.

I have a Raspberry Pi 3B+. Is it possible to turn it into a decent IPTV box? Streaming only, not planning to record.
