Starting IPTV Restream as a Complete Noob

by bdell3

Hey all I wanted to know if anyone here has started their own iPTV business under the ReStream model and not as a ReSeller. If so could any of you who did start as a restream service please point me in the direction of the 1st step as where to start...other than just the general steps ive read. Some helpful constructive advice to go along with those pointers wouldn't hurt either.

Mainly, the 1st initial step I've read on most places (forums, websites, etc.) is to choose a company who will let you have a test trial before committing to a final purchase. I am fairly new to this but I'm trying to learn everything I can, so I'm aware of the differences between the restream vs reseller business model. But I am having trouble grasping the concept of purchasing connections from a service, which would be equal to how many channels I wish to be able to restream on my own server. The reason for this is cost vs profit margin. I've seen many services charge the iptv restream businesses about 1€ per connection on average [roughly $1.13 USD]

So for example, let's say one of the best deals I saw was 800-900 connections for €550. This ends up being around $625 initial cost, and consider that to be a recurring monthly business expense. I see many iPTv businesses, excluding package deals and what not, charge for example $20 per month for each client on a month to month basis. However, I also notice most of the businesses out there, don't advertise anything less than 4,000-5,000 channels available, both VOD and Live stream channels. So given the cost of purchasing connections as a restream service, from an iPTv business provider, And what most iPTv startups charge monthly for their service...Do the monthly cost of connections as channels, that I would pay for as an iPTv restream business model, really equal out to an estimated cost of around $3,000 usd if I wanted to compete and offer around at least 4,000 channels for my service?

Because if this is the case, this seems so not worth the cost of starting iPTv as a restream at all. There has to be some kind of solution or something entirely I am missing from this picture if the initial costs outweigh Any potential 1st profits to be made. Any help is very much appreciated... so much thanks to all Redditors and the whole Reddit squad !

I would recommend that you start out as a reseller so that you can build an understanding of the processes such as setting up different types of apps. That way you build up a customer base. Once that is in place you can set up your own service and transition your customers on to it.

If you want to start your own service:
- be very careful of restreamers offer streams for €1 per connection, there are a lot of scammers who will happily take your money and provide you with nothing.
- you have additional costs including servers and software (such as xtream-codes)
- you pay a restreamer for a maximum number of connection. For example you could buy 250 connections and then use any of the 5,000 channels/VOD at any one time.
- if 10 of your customers are watching EPSN, that is only one connection to your restreamer

Don't bother with 4,000 channels. Get the channels your customers will want for whatever region of the world you are in and do those really well. You can make a good service with a few hundred channels. Nobody really wants 4,000 channels.

You need quality channels for what you are looking for, You can pick up a cheap foreign stations package for next to nothing. Depends if you want all your 4 or 5k channels of good quality. Your service isnt going to start out amazing, it takes time and there is definitely a learning curve. Unless you have a decent customer base willing to buy from you I'm not sure who will when there are better options out there. Probably better off taking a montly from a reseller and not just dive into making your own. You also have to remember you will have to pay server costs and other overheads. Starting as a complete noob and trying to do it all on your own I wouldnt recommend if you have no experience of using say an xtream codes panel

I've been looking into restreaming for a while and the biggest problem I've had is finding a reliable provider. I'm not planning ong doing anything huge. I have about fifty people that use my emby site and I'm looking to restream live TV to my server so we can all finally ditch cable. One thing to keep in mind is that with restreaming you pay for the number of connections you want from the provider. So, for example, if you only pay for 10 connections and 10 people are streaming one channel that's only considered one connection. Your server is connecting to the one channel and then duplicating it to ten users. I say this because you may not need as many connections as you think. If you use Xtream to limit the channels you provide to 100 and buy 100 connections you will theoretically never exceed your connection limit. Food for thought.
