Apple TV 4K. Can we use it for IPTV??

by Lazersho

I’m looking into a device to stream. Currently have a fire stick. From some research the strongest device power wise out there is the Apple TV. I currently have nitro and wondering if I would be able to use the Apple device.

iPlayTV and Smarters are good options. But if you happen to have Plex Pass, and are willing to spend 30 minutes or so on initial setup, Plex is the best solution I've come across. Using the free xTeve proxy https://forums.plex.tv/t/xteve-iptv-for-plex-dvr/278500 you can feed iptv streams straight into Plex, and take advantage of Plex's really good channel guide meta data, DVR functionality.

It ends up looking just like the guide on a cable box, its searchable, Plex is available on most devices, it automatically removes commercials on DVR'd programs, and the only limit to your DVR recordings are the hard drive size on your Plex server.

Only downsides I've found is there is about a 400 channel limit on Plex, so you might have to filter out some channels like foreign streams, and local station duplicates. After you've filtered the streams in xTeve you'll have to spend about 10 to 20 minutes mapping the streams to Plex's guide data.

I've been using this setup for months, and it's worked flawlessly for me, my wife and daughter since it so closely replicates the cable boxes they were used to.

It’s a graphic presentation of the Play-key. A bit like i|>TV A third client is IPTVX. New but promising.

Have you thought about a Mac mini. The specs on some of the 2012 ones will hold firm for another 5 years I reckon.

Using iPlayTV, it’s a solid app. You need subscription tho, it’s not enough to just buy the app. App is just a viewer.
