So downloaded a VPN. How do I maximize it for better iptv speeds?

by Lazersho

So been having trouble with buffering. I’m getting 300 down though when testing. When I go into my iptv it goes down significantly to between 15-30. Some advice was to try out a VPN. My question is basically set it and forget it? Or do i tweak with the settings, change my locations to not get throttled down and or set it to best server available?

I’m in the UK and use nord. I tend to set mine to a German server which has served me well for 2 years. Buffering on the speeds you’ve stated may well not be speed related. I use an android box and sometimes the GSE app on my Mac and the android box can buffer sometimes yet the Mac never does. Sometimes the hardware can be the reason.

I recommend setting the VPN to use the closest server. You can use the ping command to find out which location is the closest, but generally, whichever is the closest to you geographically, is the server you should choose. Also, make sure you're with a reliable VPN provider, I personally choose Private Internet Access. I recommend using the VPN app provided by the provider you are with. In terms of more specific or advanced settings, the default settings are usually fine, the thing which matters most is the server you pick.
