Hi,
I'm about to buy my first android box, and I was thinking these two models. I know the shield is the best box atm, but is the difference between the two that big as it is double the price? I plan to use it for IPTV and Kodi, maybe Netflix.
Any help is appreciated

Go for Fire Stick 4K and use TiviMate app for IPTV purpose.
There is only one good android box and it is the formuler Z8 the shield is ok I own both but it does not compare with the Formuler z8 do your research shield is not all that like I said I own both

I have both, whilst good the minix u9h is stuck on android 6 and not receiving updates anymore. As far as i know its still very expensive. The shield is obviously better.
Nvidia Shield is a very high-end box. It will be a good box if you want it for gaming, otherwise, its specs will be more than what's needed for IPTV purposes. In other words, you will be paying for specs you do not make use of. I would recommend buying Android IPTV box , not only an Android box. BuzzTV XPL 3000 and Formuler z8 are two good options.

Hands down Nvidia Shield! if you care about watching Netflix and youtube in 4k, also the fact that it gets all the android updates, quite frankly it is a multipurpose device, and if it suits your budget it is the best investment you will make. It runs IPTV as good as any other device imo, however if it is only IPTV you are looking to use it for it will be overkill and there are much cheaper options like the Amazon fire stick that will adequate, then you have the buzz box, formula, MAG, which are specifically designed for IPTV, all in all personally I would go with the Shield, with that you have the option to use for streaming any platform and if you are into gaming you can do that also.
I’d say a Formuler z8 for those uses. If you’re trying to game...go for the shield, but I’ve found my z8 to be the box that i use the most for iptv and VOD style apps.
Compare prices. You can often find a shield at the same price point as a buzztv or formulary box. Honestly, the shield is a beast and with apps like TiviMate, have a great interface for most iptv services. If the iptv specific boxes are much less money, go that way. For the same price, go with the shield. I have a buzztv 3000, a shield, and a firestick 4K. If you want an inexpensive option, get the firestick 4K on sale for around $40 and it will be a great device for iptv.

I have the Xiaomi Mi box 3 and honestly I think it's a really great box even though theres no ethernet it still performs really fast and smooth. I use it for iptv, Kodi, and showbox. Price point is not that bad. It's just my opinion. For me the shield is over kill just for streaming. If you play games or do other stuff then shield is worth it for sure but just for streaming better going with something different.
I think it runs very well on both. It is a great piece of software and both devices run it smoothly.
I have minix, running coreelec on it, works really good! HDR, 4K, no problem.
Shield. Don't get a U9-H. Not worth your time.
Neither for IPTV. Get a Dreamlink T3 or Formuler Z8
For IPTV the Formuler Z8 is the King, end of! Yes a portion of the cost is for Mytvonline app, but it’s so worth it to be able to use like a Sat/Cable STB, instant viewing and no messing with stupid apps that have to download playlists and TV guide.
I have both the Shield and Firestick4k. Shield is better at everything, apps load quicker, menus move faster, streams play quicker (provided your internet is fast.
I use SmoothStreams with Tivimate and honestly have not had any buffering.
Nvidia Shield is phenomenal. I have 2 with my LG OLED TVs. $180 which includes chromecast built-in. its first purpose is for high-end graphics needed for games which I do not play. the remote volume tunes the Nvidia for volume, not the tv and not the soundbar. this is fantastic! I use it with youtube tv which beats ps Vue and DirecTVNow. the remote is so fantastically designed but a tiny bit twitchy with volume. I am looking for good IPTV just to get free movies but frankly, I do not mind spending $6 on amazon prime.
