I believe the TV guide you're looking for is still in beta as of the latest update (96) in Extreme and you can't make it the default view yet. When you are in the grid mode you can go to the menu and select Full TV Guide (Beta). You can also get to the guide by long pressing down while you are viewing channel. In either method you can scroll forward in time, select a show and add it to the timer to record.
