IPTV box and Android Apps

Hello! I have an Android- based IPTV box and would like to install additional apps on it (Netflix, Pluto, Haystack). The problem is that the apk's I am finding are tablet-versions of these apps, so I cannot navigate in them with the remote control buttons, but have to use the mouse-emulation which totally sucks. Is there a way to make these apps navigate-able through the remote up/down/left/right buttons? Or to get versions that are optimized for this kind of usage? How do you solve this problem?

The problem is it's usually mobile it tablet versions of the Android OS...shield and mibox for example use Android TV os which is geared to tv usage. So unless you use an airmouse keyboard then you'll have to put up with the limitations of you box.

My android-based Minix box has an AirMouse remote. A USB dongle goes into the box and gives me a point-and-click cursor. Maybe there's something similar out there.
