Anyone figure out how to get XML epg data into Channels DVR?

by relink2013

Channels DVR is an awesome system with fantastic mobile and TV apps, but they only officially support the HD Homerun and rely on Gracenote for EPG data.

I have read posts from people claiming they have gotten iptv streams to work using HD Homerun emulator proxies such as Xteve or Telly. However I have not seen anyone get XML EPG data working.

Does anyone know of any way to get it working? Or any projects out there to get it working that I could follow?

Edit: to clarify THIS is the software I’m talking about.

Channels provides it's own EPG data. Once you get your channels working in Telly or Xteve, add it as a new source in Channels DVR Server. Click add source and add a new HDHomeRun. Use the IP and Port: 192.168.1.200:6077

Once it adds the source, click on the channel listing for that source and start manually mapping the channels. You may need to add a new programming lineup using the plus button at the top of the modal window. Add something like directv or a local cable provider. Most IPTV is all EST so you should use a zipcode that is EST.

Then just start mapping channels and it works. You may need to stop and re-start the server to have it start fetching guide data after you map your channels.

It's important to remember that this isn't actually a feature that Channels supports, so you're on your own for the rest of it.

Hey there. I played with Xteve yesterday and PLex, and finally got it to work.

What I did was. I downloaded Xteve, in the initial configuration Use the m3ua link from the IPTV provider. and then find the XML link as well. After that, go to Filter, and search for the country, could be "USA" or "United states" In my case it was "Denmark"

Then go to mappings, and you need to enable the channel.

If you are using Plex, go to Live TV & DVR, and manually type in the IP with the port.

After that, you need to choose the channel manually, and find the guide.

It's a long process, and I didn't feel it worked very well. I ended up using VLC instead. because PLex doesn't allow sharing with friends and Live TV.

Hope it helps.
