NVIDIA SHIELD TV, Android Box or Fire Stick

by tedwalls

Hey everyone. Was wondering if I could get some peoples opinions. I currently have an Android box for my IPTV. I’ve just purchased a new tv and looking for another device to stream. I’ve read that people swear by NVIDIA SHIELD TV. The fire stick is obviously smaller. And I’ve not really had much issues with my Android box. Is there really a difference between these? Am I going to noticed much difference between the Nvidia and a fire stick?

Thanks

Shield by a country mile

I have the Shield and I would definitely recommend it. Having had other boxes before I can honestly say that nothing beats a Shield.

However, a lot of people swear by the Firestick and X96Max devices as well.

It just depends on what you want to do with it. Just streaming? Shield is overkill. A 4k firestick is all you need. If you want to do anything above/beyond streaming go with the shield. I personally have had android boxes and the firestick user interface is so much more simplistic. The controls are smooth and it just 'feels' better

If cost isn't really what is holding you back, just buy the Shield and be done with it.

I personally have two shields.

If you don't care about Prime video, any andriod box will do.

If you do have prime video, I suggest shield or a fire stick/tv.

I did have a mi box but it stop working after a year. It also had issues with prime video and low memory when it did work. Luckily I had a Walmart warranty and got my money back minus warranty cost.

I've got a Firestick, BB2 Pro (kind of decent android box), and the Shield. The shield is miles better than any of them. The Firestick is great most of the times but even simple tasks in Kodi will make the system freeze up on me or become unresponsive so much so that I'll have to pull the power and reboot it. The BB2 is great but has its own issues with app compatibility but as long as you have a mouse/keyboard enabled remote you can get by with most stuff but lack of updates and general support for the device is a big problem and you should expect this with any China based streaming device that doesn't have a well established name behind it. As for the Shield, it receives updates and is still very much supported, and all of the apps are tailored for that device which is such a luxury when dealing with android TV boxes. If you want a hassle free experience and a surprisingly capable streaming device get the Shield.

Shield is dope a mibox is a tier below that and the firestick is the most limited of the three devices

Like everyone said Shield is a lot just for streaming. My recommendation would be the Xiaomi Mibox if you dont care for amazon prime video(might come in future). I've had it for years and has been great for me.

Between those two, I would recommend Nvidia Shield. However, if you wish to get something for IPTV purposes, I believe Formuler Z8 is a better option. Nvidia Shield is a top box in its specs, however, its features are extremely high for IPTV.

Only for iptv,, the Dreamlink T2 or T3 if u want to record. Firestick if u are broke but for $100, my T2 hands down. plays all the apk I want. I also have an Nvidia and it is overkill unless u play games, then they rock for that.

Reason for t2 is no iptvsmarters but if I want I can use that too

Shield, anyone who tells you otherwise has never used a shield.

Formuler z8

I like the fire cube over the fire stick. I get Alexa built in.

Shield for sure. The Firestick 4k is a lot better than earlier models but it still struggles.

I highly recommend the Nvidia shield over anything it will last you like forever and the specs are amazing and also it's expandable storage and if ur on a budget then the fire stick is the way to go I love my shield it's fast smooth and has very good accuracy on loading apps and playing any movie or iptv service out there

I always get a chuckle when I read these threads and see a bunch of people pointing out that the Shield is overkill as a "gaming device". Which while technically true on the game device part....I'm guessing the total % amount of people who own a shield and actually ever do any gaming on it is fairly low :)

Never once here in the years I've happily had mine.

natlor

Get a formuler Z8 and thank me later

To really answer your question: no, not for IPTV

What are the problems, if any, with your current Android device wrt IPTV?

J_01

Buy a firestick 4k for cheap from amazon @ wait until the new Nvidia Shield comes out.

Same question different thread. All the replies are the same thing that brought you to ask this question. “I read this but I need you to personally tell me yes.”

illegitimatehumans

The shield isn't just for stream. If that's all you do. Don't buy the shield

Shield > Mi Box > daylight > Fire Stick

Can you install Netflix or prime video on the formuler z8?

I sell some boxes with custom firmware, have it set up to where if you ever need to factory reset you can have all your apps back with the click of two apps. Plus we provide 24/7 free live support
