I’m done with IPTVs. It saves money, but the buffering and general unreliability with EPGs are deal breakers. Especially with live sports. Will miss it when there’s a decent PPV, but the few bucks saved ain’t worth it.

IPTV is only great for those who don't care about all the bells and whistles. If you're expecting commercial quality / Reliability then IPTV ( illegal one) really isn't the way to go. I think people get sucked in by the price thinking that its just the same when its not even close.
I'm paying 24 euro per month for two IPTV providers and I have pretty much every sport that exists. Both are very good and if in some case there's a channel with issue, I always switch to the other provider.
You're being disengenuous with saving a "few" bucks.
I understand the times of frustration, but seriously. It is $10 a month for everything.
What are you expecting, same service as cable for $10 month pricing? Little naive.
I tried a few and finally settled for two, very good, very reliable, will never go and pay 90xmonth when i can pay 20-25 for both services.
You have to be willing to experiment with different providers until you find the right fit..and then prepare to be ruthless and replace that provider when it starts to underperfom. I could never watch without iptv now..the ability to watch every nhl, nba, baseball, ppvs and 90% of the soccer games in the world simply cant be achieved any other way.
I've been using it with plex for 4 months now, I found a decent provider that doesn't buffer. My first provider was horrible, buffering, etc., I found another one ,setup ram disk for transcoding, added a decent graphics card and now have 280 channels that work great.
I rarely get buffering through two different providers. Using an XPL3000 here through MAG.
I barley get buffering..its probably your internet provider.. I would use a service with no ip lock and use a VPN. That may solve your issue
Helix has had server issues in the DC area do you follow them on Twitter for updated news on servers
IPTV is great for me because my countries legal offerings are abysmal, with only two legal cable providers and the major one being bailed out by the government.
Also knowing how to setup and generate your own EPG data using webgrab++ helps.
Really IPTV is a fun project for me, but the wife loves it
IPTV will miss u
Thanks all. You’re mostly all a lot friendlier and constructive than Twitter land.
I always explain this to anyone buying IPTV off of me beforehand. I am in no way responsible for the quality of their internet which is 99% of the time the problem with buffering on IPTV, people just don't want to accept that though. I've had someone call me saying there was something wrong with their package. I've literally facetimed them showing it working on my own tv but they refused to believe it. When questioned I found out they had a 6mpbs connection. I always recommend a stable connection of 12mbps minimum to greatly reduce the chance of buffering. I have been a customer of the service for over 3 years and it has worked exceptionally well but I am on fiber broadband.
I charge £50 for the year subscription and for that you get all sports, movies, ppv events and vod. In the UK to watch all the football alone it would cost at least £450 over the year. Some people just can't say no to value like that.
Try out different ones and learn to invest into your network I’m hardwired and I have 50mbps down and although there are a few hiccups 95% of the time my iptv experience is great.
Mine never buffers. I also only have like 50 favorited channels out of 1500.. maybe watch 5 channels.
Stop using shit services 🤷♂️
free ones are worthwhile, but all the paid ones are
a matter of convenience, not quantity or quality.
pretty much all of them use the exact same lot of
channels, same gui, even same billing systems,
so the only difference is human support and how
many layers of marketing BS they throw at you.
if EPG matters, then pay cause frees don't have.
Why not just use it for ppv events then?
I sell one for $10cad (1m1c)
Way cheaper then paying $100 per event and at the cost of a few coffees why not do that plus have normal cable then.
Not trying to sell my services and i'm sure there are people who would sell you something for cheaper as well.
Just my too cents.
I used to have a lot of buffering when connected to wifi. switched over to wired and now have little to none.
Honestly, guessing that is the right call in your case. IPTV isn't for everybody. Especially those that have a hard time identifying and/or accepting the potential their end problem variable.
A lot of people out there that get tunnel visioned in on the "I'm gonna save X amount of money!" aspect, and forget there is a reliance on the 3rd party quality of life/effort factor that goes into the equation with this stuff. Sometimes spending the extra money to bypass that can indeed make sense on a individual to individual basis.
