Looking at getting a 55" tv soon. Likely from Best Buy or Costco. IPTV will be my primary source for watching. I am a noob with most of this stuff.
Are there some brands (and built-in SMART functions) that work better with IPTV?

You buy a TV for its screen. For IPTV get a fire stick 4k and install TiviMate.
I know this is not really what you are looking for, but I bought a cheaper TV and then spent the extra money building a cheap computer I could run IPTV on. It works great for plex and Kodi if that's what you want and lets me browse the web from the couch. I use a wireless keyboard/trackpad combo that I have found to work wonders.
LG and Samsung both have the Smarters app in their app stores now
I got a Phillips that works fine with IPTV. It has Android TV and I use TiviMate.
