VPN on Samsung Smart TV - Help Needed.

by barfly14

Hi all

Probably a fairly noobie question but if someone could help out please I'd appreciate it.

I have a Samsung Smart TV. I have the smart IPTV app and a subscription with a supplier that gives me endless channels including sports and movies etc for a certain price per year. I am happy with their service as so far it has not gone down but they have advised me as a precaution to get a VPN. I cannot find any in the apps on the TV so I wondering which is best to use and how do I get it set up?

Thanks in advance.

Tvs are not really built for iptv imo anyway, they will have the basic smart iptv features but power and processing wise they do suffer

To answer your question on vpns, when i was messing around with my mums tv trying to see the featues i noticed the app store the tv uses for samsung didnt have the ability to load ipvanish(my vpn) and also a lot of the other major ones

Best bet would just get a low level starter device like a firestick which can pretty much side load everything

You need to setup the VPN on your PC and allow others to access the connection. Once this is done, you will need to set the IP address on the TV to static and set the default gateway with the IP address from the computer. You can google how to set up the VPN on the PC. That is the way I got it to work. You can test if it is working by going to whatismyip.com on the TV browser.

Install VPN on your router if it supports it

If you have an Asus router you can setup VPN for specific devices

What service you using for channels? I'm using tvzon right now (I only use my iptv for watching sports) and a good number of the channels aren't actually what they're supposed to be , I.e. sky sports premier league never showing the correct programming

Thanks all. I decided to buy a vpn router and will install a vpn service on it when it arrives.

Recently had sort of a similar situation, the easiest method that actually worked was sharing the VPN connection with my laptop through the windscribe app
