I use Express VPN on my 2nd gen and 4K Firesticks, and it's been rock solid on both for 18 months 👌
The Firestick has vpn apps. ExpressVPN is good. I like how you can split tunnel the apps you want.

Best thing is to get a router which you can setup with vpn, means all traffic is secure all the time. +1 for express vpn and Nord.

It's always better/safer to use it. That being said, I don't know of anyone who has gotten into trouble using it without VPN. If you want to have some peace of mind, I suggest go for it. Nord or ExpressVPN are both good; and you should download it on both.
